The Electrical Contractor

The Electrical contractor was:

Jeremy Davis.

JD Unlimited Contracting

6366 Eakins Road,

Imperial. MO 63052

636-541-0711.

While William Matzker was still working as the General Contractor on building my house, he chose Jeremy Davis to act as the electrician on the project. Jeremy is a neighbor of Mr. Matzker.

In the beginning, all seemed to go well. Mr Davis was very pleasant and explained his work as he moved along. When he had most of the wiring done, he had to take some time off, so that other construction workers could do their work. He then came back to finish up the electrical work.

When he came back to finish the job, he was "different." He did some very odd things. Things that were totally perplexing.

1.  He removed the foam insulation strips off the main light fixtures! When I saw that insulation laying on the floor, I asked him why he had taken it off!  He said: "Oh, your ceilings are too uneven to use it." ... This answer was totally illogical, as the foam insulation strips are on the light fixtures partly to make up for any unevenness between the fixture and the ceiling surface!!! ...

See photo 1.

When I hired a Home Inspector to come and go over some of the issues with the house, he stated that taking those insulation strips off the light fixtures could allow heat from the attic to come into the house in the Summer (through the gaps around the light fixtures) and that cold air could come through those gaps in the Winter. ... He said I might be looking at increased heating and cooling costs because of the gaps around the light fixtures!!...

See Photo 1B.

Here are the insulation strips that Jeremy Davis stripped off my light fixtures.

Without MY permission!

Jeremy also did a number of other odd things.

A. He put the TV cable hookup in the room I called "The Office", instead of in the Living Room, where the plans showed it. ... (Really Jeremy, who puts their only planned TV hookup in the office?)

B. Jeremy installed the two exterior floodlights, on the front of the house, at different heights on the wall. ... That looks ridiculous Jeremy!

See photos 2 and 3. ...

C. When he was supposed to be close to finishing up, I gave Mr. Davis money to buy light bulbs for all the fluorescent fixtures. I told him "get the same ones I have in my house." (Mr. Davis had been in my current house a number of times.) Instead of getting what I asked for, he bought 32 watt light bulbs! ... Really Jeremy? 32 Watts? Where would anyone use a 32 watt light bulb, except maybe inside of a refrigerator?! ...I didn't notice the 32 watt bulbs until later, as, during construction, I was never in the house except in the daytime, when I didn't need to turn any lights on. ... Really Jeremy, 32 watts!??

See  photo 4

D. Jeremy, how did I end up with four outside floodlights that I can't turn on? .... Oh yes, you asked me if I wanted them set for motion lights. When I said: "I guess" you set them to turn on ONLY if someone walked underneath them in the dark.  So, I have four outside floodlights that I can't turn on manually. ... Why? That makes no sense.

Why would Mr.Davis do all these illogical things? I don't know. You would have to ask him. ... (Or Mr. Matzker.) His contact information is above.
