The Big Paint Switch

This young man was referred to me by a reputable local builder, that a family member had once worked for. I hired him to do the drywall and the painting.

When he first came to work, he was pleasant and was a hard worker. The drywall job seemed to go just fine.

Then came time to paint. He and I discussed exactly what brand I wanted (Sherman Williams) and what colors of paint I wanted. (I had paint sample color cards for the colors I had chosen.)

He then asked me if he could get paid for the drywall job. Since that had been priced separately, and was due to be paid, I went ahead and paid him.

The next morning he came back with Baer paint. Home Depots cheaper brand … and it wasn’t even the right color!  I obviously was not happy! To add to my unhappiness, he was unpleasant and unnecessarily, belligerent.

To make a long story short, he was soon relieved of doing any further painting at my house.

I am not naming this painter, as his wife, whom I liked a lot, and who had no part in the paint switch, works with him and I have enough respect for her, not to bring any disrespect upon her name.

I will just say, that if you are considering hiring a painter in northern Jefferson County, maybe just go buy your own paint to make sure you actually get what you want!
