About Me

I am an 81 year old average American housewife.

I stay at home, mind my own business, harm no one, and do my best to treat everyone I meet with dignity and respect.

I was married to my husband for 61 years before I lost him to Leukemia.

After he died, I felt that I didn’t need a three-bedroom house to maintain, so decided to build myself a smaller one and let my Son and his wife move into the one I was/am living in.

The planning on this house started in August 2016 and the foundation was poured in February 2017. … I didn't get to move into the house until July of 2020.

The accounts on this site will explain why it took so long to finish the house.

My husband worked a job (Petroleum Maintenance) that was hot and dirty in the Summer and cold and dirty in the winter.

In other words, he worked hard for what he earned.

The money I have had to spend to re-do the poor quality work,  that these people did here, is money my husband worked hard for.

Then ….These people took a Dream and turned it into a Nightmare.

Here are two pictures of Jim and me.

  1. Is our thirtieth anniversary and

  2. Is our 50th anniversary.

What Have I Learned?

1. Get it in writing. Get it in writing. GET IT IN WRITING!!!! … No matter WHO you contract with to build a house, no matter how impressive they seem, put ALL the details in writing and make sure all parties sign it. … Be very specific. Some details may not be on the drawings or the plans. ADD them by sketching into the right location.  Again, be specific. Give feet, inches, etc: Then initial it and have the builder do the same. Anything you overlook can come back to haunt you.

2. NEVER finance your home building directly. ALWAYS go through a bank, where you put the money in escrow and the bank “pays the bills” AFTER the quality of the work has been inspected.

3. People aren’t always who you think they are, or who they portray themselves to be. … Even Psychopaths can act “normal” when it serves their purpose. But inside they are still heartless people, with no conscience. Much of what comes out of their mouth is lies. They are often cunning and deceitful. They will do harm to others for no other reason than that they enjoy hurting people. They seem incapable of showing empathy or truly caring about anyone. … Always look deeply into a prospective contractors background!! Get reference, get references, get references. … Go Union when at all possible!

4. There are still a lot of good people in the world! I would like to list all of the GOOD contractors who worked on my house, but I will wait for a while to do that.

5. Again: GET IT IN WRITING!!!
